New colors to play with!

Oh guess what the makeup fairy brought me......yup! My Aromaleigh collections! Oooooo, they are hot, hot, hot..... So we are going to play a game. Look closely at the my eyelid and try to guess the colors that I have on. Here is a hint: I am wearing 11 colors.

It took me about a half hour to pick the colors...then another half hour to put the shadows on. Good luck!

The Spirit of Eyes

The one thing that I know I got going for me is my eyes. In the sun they sparkle and catch light, the one problem for me is that this quickly blinds me. But still I like to let them glisten.

So this post is just on some of the photos of my eyes.

Told you they glisten...

Just lavender and no mascara, I forgot it.....

I love this one, it shows some of the brown in my eyes. Believe it or not, when I was younger my eyes were more brown than green. As I have gotten older, they actually change with the season or the eyeshadows I choose.

Try this one, I love the pink tips of mascara....

So there are some. Later, I want to do some really dramatic colors.....temptation, temptation.....

Self-Esteem Issues

Taking pictures of myself is really hard for me. When I look in my photos, I see all the flaws in my beauty. Beauty, vanity, and youth words that don't go well when put together. I see the obesity in my face and in my neck...don't get me started on my body. Low self-esteem is an addiction that I face every day. I call it "the voice of let downs". When I think I look my best, it is the little voice that speaks back and tells me how horrible I look....or how I will never amount to much...or how awlful I am as a person.....oh, and my personal favorite....you look like a person wearing a intertube around your waist (I fat).

Many women and teenage girls hear some of these same words over and over again and don't know how to respond at first. But over time, they begin to counter-act the words, by unreasonable diet, outrageous exercise routines, over use of make-up products (guilty), chem peels, lipo, reductions, enhancements, lifts, tucks....and the list goes on.

So how did we get this way? A lot of it we get at those impressionable ages of our youth, we heard what people say about each other. Television is any psychologist, sociologist, and other mental personnel favorite target. How about Newspapers, Magazines, and now the Internet. As women, we are even bombarded by our mates....a constant barrage of snide remarks, jokes or just plain Jane blunt! Then our peers...yes, ladies....we are so cruel to others, just to make us feel better about ourselves.

So, how do we get past this.....try very hard ignore what you hear and see. You are not like those models, diet guru, beauty specialists and of course friends, family and mates. You are different from them, no two are alike, (unless you are a mirror twin and idential twin) lets face it you are unique and you have to believe that. You are your own Goddess of Beauty, no one can judge you, for they themselves see their own ugliness in the mirror.

I know it is hard, but that voice in our head is a liar and a manipulator. I hear that voice everyday and it is hard to ignore. I tells me that I am stupid and good for nothing. How can I get past that? I am working on it, I have to put those tapes out of my head...a good book that I read a few years ago called "Self Talk, Soul Talk: What to Say When You Talk to Yourself" by Jennifer Rothchild.

You can get a good price from Amazon.com, especially used, about $4.00.  Check it out, there is a link to Amazon on this page, I actually get some cash if you click on it. Please do, I need the cash......

Ok, there was my sales pitch....now on with the show....

Tapes in our head, as she refers to, are the ones we hear over and over in our heads. They become so loud that we only hear that tape. We have programed ourselves into listening to them and nothing else. Turning the volume down and recording new and positive things about ourselves to listen to. I still have found that I turn the volume down on the positive and listen to the negative. That recording will always be there and I will find its way into the current listening list.

So here is another one of these pictures that I am still searching for my beauty....

Enjoy the beauty!

Greens....I Love Greens

Ok, I have been really bored and tired of being sick. This is really getting old, so in this picture I am running a 102 degree fever and fed up with looking like a sick old lady. The hat in this picture is one of my hats that I just put into my collection of vintage hats.

When I want to feel better, I put on my greens. Recently I just received a nice order from Fyrinnae...I was not prepared for the beautiful colors....eye candy (excuse the pun).....glitter....rich color that grabs the light. This was my first order and I was astounded with the depth of the colors that I chose.

So Sunday, I found myself all alone in my wonderful home. My husband was golfing, daughter was off to the mountains. Thunder rolled in the background and the insistent whimpers coming from my dogs. They both become frighten children when the skys open up with the changing  of the warm and cold fronts coliding into one another. But I enjoy the change.

Now back to my greens. Let's just say that it did take me a while to get over shell shock and then decide my course artistry with the colors. Usually I am pretty good at colors, doing nails and putting art to them is not always an easy thing to do. So just like any kid at Christmas and just been handed the best toys in the world, I took my time and waited for the mood to strike.

I love the color....now to give you the formula.....hmmmmm....should I? Oh, I know you want it, so I will have to give you what you want. Or I know you won't leave me alone! But for now I will leave you in suspense......the lighing has to be just right.

The Goddess of Beauty: Shadow and Color

The Goddess of Beauty: Shadow and Color

Shadow and Color

Now recently, I have been asked, "I only use one color and look blah, so how do I choose the colors to put on?" Trust me, this is not the first time I have been asked that question. Why do women think that they can't get this kind of look? Now I am taken back by that. But I realize women in general, achieve things in their own way. Also not every woman has the knowledge on how to do make-up. Sometimes women get lucky and get it right away, then there are those who learn from their mothers (Trust me, my Mother got her style from the 50' and 60's. My high school homecoming night, I let her....well, I will think twice on that....LOL...I love my Mom.), then there are those who need to be shown or take up some tips. So here I am, the tipster, any thing ladies. I will try it or learn more about it, you ask me; I will go out of my to try it and I will post it for you. But you have to ask.

Honestly, it is alot easier than they think. Where does a woman start? Well, start with a second shade, usually one that compliments another color. For example: A dark brown and a light brown, dark green and a light green and so on and so forth. You get the idea, right? Once you start do this, then you wait for feed back. Listen closely, sometimes the complements come out in different ways.

Once you find two colors, then add a third, a forth and so on. I have been known to wear up to 6 colors at one time. To start or prep your eye area, use a primer. Right now I am using Mary Kay's eye primer. Which works alright. But I am still out there in search for the right one. Keep a watch out for a post on just primers.

In the pic above I have 5 colors on and in the pic below is the brands and colors I used.

Now you will notice, I will use other brands and not just stay with one brand. I look for the look first, then I go for price, and then go for quality for my money. Now MAC; http://www.maccosmetics.com/ is OK, but it would be my first choice, I choose it for the color and the dramatic effect that I can achieve. Jesse's Girl; http://www.jessesgirlcosmetics.com/  Now I really love this stuff. But only the shadows. They have some really glimmer to them, and the dark colors like the peacock color, better when you see it first hand. It is a true blue and can be mixed with other colors, like my greens. Now the Prestige powder; http://www.prestigecosmetics.com/...well you can see I like it a lot, and I do! I makes a great highlighter for your eyes. It also has speckles of gold flakes in it, which makes in a reusable color, over and over. Especially, the nightlife, holidays, or parties. But it can go well as day make-up as well.

That is what I search for when I buy colors; how much will I use the color and is the price worth breaking my husbands' credit card and deal with his wrath....LOL....He just told me, "Damn straight, princess!" Now I only wear my war paint, because I like to go to war with....noooo, nooo....just kidding, I wear it for myself and my self-esteem. (Which is my other addiction...another time.)

To feel good about yourself, sometimes you have to do things to make you feel good. I love doing my hair, my nails and my make-up. They make me feel special. Another way I do this is helping others with their nails, hair and make-up makes a day wonderful to me.

So now....get out there and experiment. Trust me, you are a pro at putting make-up on. You know what look you want to achieve, so believe you can do it. You are the Goddess of  Beauty, so work it, baby!

Marilyn Monroe Blondes ATTENTION!!!!!!!!

The blonde of all blondes...Marilyn Monroe, the hair color idol of all hair colors. I feel that this is the one blonde that most women think of when they go blonde. It is not that we are dumb, it is that women want to make men believe we are dumb....most blondes are smart and know what they want. I prefer to make men think I am a ditz, so when I say or do something smart I tell them "I color my hair to make you think I am dumb so you will do what I want!" My husband asks all the time, "How's that workin' for ya, hunny?" If he only knew is that he is under my spell.

Blondes get more attention than any other colors, people in general see a blonde as a threat to their mate. We are not, we know what we want and we want to achieve our goals to get it. Sorry if you can make up your mind to reach your goals....but don't worry I do know some other women who have colors other than blonde who are terrifically smart and ambitious. So I am not bashing other colors, I'm just talking about how the blondes maintain that color.

First of all I am a dark dish-water blonde, when I was a lil' one, I was a white blonde! As I got older the Indian blood took over. First thing I did to obtain the knowledge of how to color my hair. I went to beauty college and learned some things there. I was only there to learn how to do nails, but you can't be at school without picking up a few things. I have several friends who I am close with who do hair and have done my hair in the past.

These are the tools that I was told to obtain. The gloves are reuse able, a color brush, and a bowl. Now you can use any bowl, I just have a professional discount at beauty supply stores. The gloves, just make sure they are durable enough to with stand the strength of the color. (discount item at BSS) The brush, I still suggest go to the beauty supply store that is open to the public. Most BSS only cater to beauty professionals, but there are a few that are open to the public, suggestion: Sally's Beauty Supply. The items in there are alot better than they were when they first opened. There are alot of professional items in there also, like China Glaze, IBD nail products, and various others, you just have to look.

Then there is the bleach, now this is very important, if you don't know much about bleach. Just look at your clothes you have ruined in the wash room. Be very careful, this hair bleach will bleach clothes, rugs, and other things that you don't want ruined. YOU ARE WARNED! Now where was I....oh, bleach. Now this is what I use is:

It is by Clairol and it is really great stuff. It comes in three shades, white, blue and violet (pic above). Now I have a a lot of red in my hair, darn family heritage....Scottish and American Indian....the violet help bleach that out without turning orange. Unless you like that and that is what you are achieving then use the blue. Now if your hair is a darker blonde...use the white, it is made specifically for lightening hair color. This product has a grape smell to it when mixed, pleasant when applying. It doesn't have the ammonia smell to it and leaves no bleachy smell afterwards. (Funny, I just created a new word...bleachy....whoohoo!)

Now the next item that I use:

Developers, now the one thing is that assists the bleach and makes it become active. Now there is other developers, I don't suggest you use any of these developers, unless you consult your hairstylist or someone you know who has knowledge in the field.....no I am not the person to ask. Now I have to mix these two products about half and half....3 Tablespoons of powder to 3 Tablespoons of developer.  Then the fun begins, I have to meticulously paint my roots and then put a plastic cap on and wait. For about an hour I subject myself to the long wait to reach that potential Marilyn Monroe glamorous locks! Rinse in cold water, this is important for setting the color. The wash your hair to remove more bleach from your hair and scalp. I like to wash my hair with Nexxus products...because they are very rich in conditioning treatments. I use Humectress, both shampoo and conditioner. I use these for about a week and a half to help moisturize the damage that I have caused and all the natural oils out. But still I am not done, there is still one more step that I have to tone out any yellow, I am after the old Hollywood blonde look which is better than today's fade of blue tinged platinum. That, to me looks like the old ladies getting out of the beauty shop retching of Dippty Dew and Aqua Net plaster, then looking like a purple grape from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...oh what was that girls name....oh, I forget and it is not important.

Now this two toners, I have to mix together and yes it is alright to do that and the developer at the equal amount of Silver lady and White lady together. These two are extremely purple, so please be careful with these. Don't get on the phone to the insurance person and do business for about a half-hour or you will frighten yourself with blueberry hair....I did this and I had to stay home for a weekend and hide my hair. The color does wash out, but can be shocking to the novice. You only need to leave this on for a short time. For me at least 10 to 15 minutes, just until you achieve the color. Now if you rinse off and realize that this isn't the light color you want to achieve, to make it lighter use again about a week. Now if it is too light....remember this the next time and shorten the time the next time you do a touch up.

Maintenance....you thought it would be easy....no way sister! You have to understand that air pollution, food, vitamins, medications, vitamins and smoking. Will definitely alter the color and make it look brassy and dull. But doing this is just learning to stay up with a routine. My regular shampoo, and this I definitely spend a little more to keep the same look, day after day. Bed Head's Dumb Blonde, shampoo and conditioner, this does maintain the color to some degree. But you also need a pick me up on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, it all depends on the degree of the level of blonde you want to stick with. This Shampoo is called Shimmer Lights, it is a purple based hair shampoo, to condition I use the Humectress again to help keep the moisture locked in. This is what the shampoo looks like:

So now you know the secret to the Hollywood blonde.....the one thing I have to advise is that you have keep the work to keep that color. If you spend the time to do it right and the cash....you will get noticed a lot....trust me....men and women alike. Oh, all the products that I use is located at Sally's Beauty Supply....never shun the obvious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go out there and look like a Goddess!

Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes

The Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes (fiberized weave mascara) are in cute tubes...the colors are beautiful. But that is where it stops. 1st) They are dry, waxy feel to them. 2nd) They don't go on to well. If you are patient, like I am, if you work with it and use a mascara brush to separate the lashes, you can come out with some pretty lash colors. Some of the colors I have are: Lush green (which looks more like Jade when put on.), Mermaid Teal (It has more of a bright green appearance.), Indigo Blue (Looks like a soft lavender than a rich indigo blue should have.), Divine Purple (Takes on a more plum, than purple.),  and finally, Heartthrob Pink (Which hits the mark on pinks.) There are, I believe seven colors all together, black and brown.

It says that it is fiberized, maybe that is the reason that it looks thick. But unfortunately that makes it more difficult to apply. Thank goodness that I had a old mascara brush to comb through, because, the lashes clumped together. Like I said, you can achieve the desired look, look carefully at the eyelashes from The Greens posting, you can tell there is definition of color.

Would I recommend it to my reader? Only if you want to work with difficult material....go for it...but if you don't....walk passed it and search through the Halloween costume shops for mascara or search online for another product....then let me know about it.

The Greens

Ok, now a friend of mine has encouraged me to put up some shots that show my art in putting eyeshadow and make-up. So here it is:

I love greens, they show off my eyes.

So now here is my greens...If you want information on the colors and stuff......Let me know.

Teeth

Teeth are important to the appearance of beauty. For me, I needed the confidence to smile and feel good about myself. It is weird to start my blog this way, but, it is a my way of seeing myself. So I am sharing this with you. So here it goes:

Pay attention to the teeth not the lady.

Now you have seen what they look like and why I want to have them fixed. So a few days ago I went back to get my teeth bonded.

Now remember, the teeth, the teeth!

So now whtat do you think? Good, no? No, it didn't hurt, just had to put up with the drill sounds......yeck!
